The Board of Health, which consists of seven citizen members who meet the second Tuesday of the month, except July and August, to review the Health Department’s activities of the previous month. The meetings are open to the public.
Child Health Conferences are scheduled for the third Thursday of each month. Infant and child physical examinations, required immunizations, growth development testing and health evaluation services are provided free of charge. This program is open to Carlstadt residents. The Board monitors the activities of the part-time Sanitary Inspector and the Public Health Nurse who are supplies, by contract, by Mid Bergen regional Commission and the Health Awareness Regional Program.
The Sanitarian inspects all businesses that handle food, inspects vending machines and investigates any health related complaints.
The Public Health Nurse administers the Health Consultation Program on the second Tuesday of the month at the First Presbyterian Church on Third Street. She also assists with the board sponsored flu clinic for seniors and the chronically ill.
The Registrar of Vital Statistics issues marriage licenses, burial permits, and birth, death and marriage transcripts.
The Borough is under contract to the Clifton Health Department to provide an animal warden. All dogs and cats are required to be licensed when they reach the age of six months and licenses must be renewed by January 31st of each year. After that date, a $5.00 per month late fee is assessed.

The Adult Health Clinics take place at the First Presbyterian Church and are scheduled from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM:
*There are no clinics held in July and August.

Appointment Required. The Children's Health Clinic is held in the Caucus Room and the Council Chambers from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM:

The Board of Health consists of seven members, including a physician, and is staffed with a sanitarian. It contracts with Mid Bergen Regional and Hackensack Awareness Regional Program for health education and health officer services.
The members serve three-year terms. Their principal obligation is the protection of the public health of the Borough. The board is empowered by the State statutes to enact, entirely independent of the Council, codes regulating all matters of public health.
